As we all know, Micheal Jackson left the world behind in June 25, 2009. It was a huge shock to all of us here in the U.S. and world-wide. Truth be told, I have never shed tears over a death of a celebrity. MJ's death was just a low blow for me, but I was able to take away a few lessons as he passed.
The first lesson I have learned is to give to others and not to be so quick to take. Micheal Jackson has given to over 30 charities in his lifetime and left in his will to give to more of them. If that is not selflessness, I'm not sure what is. In my case, I don't have money to donate left and right. It is the time I have to donate, instead. WE need to be apart of something that is way bigger than us. If we do not try to give what we can to others who have slim to nothing, it will bite us later.
The second lesson he taught me is that barriers can be broken. He has demolished the barriers of racism, sexism, ageism, and religious by creating music that everyone can listen and dance to in one piece. Wherever there was war or any type of conflict, put on one of Micheal Jackson's songs and everyone will be at peace. Through his music he taught us to make a change, it doesn't matter if we're black or white, heal the world, and he taught us that we ARE the world.
Finally, he also taught and reminded all of us that if we are facing any hardship, we should continue to smile and hold our heads up high. It is difficult for plenty to do, but Micheal did it. He knew his heart was damaged from all of the accusations of child molestation. He knows he did not do it, but felt the need to settle this matter out of court. The parents of these children saw Micheal as a rich target. If they are feeling like the ground should swallow them, they deserve it. Micheal Jackson lacked a childhood. Therefore he did all he could to bring it back by creating a Neverland ranch with all sorts of entertainment for children.
Mr. Jacskon, no other celebrity, gone or still with us, has taught us nearly as much as you. Your warm smile and energetic personality presented on stage has touched us all. MJ, you are the true King of pop and your talent will not be let go of that easily. Thank you MJ for delivering your talent...and thank God for having given you to us. The Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away. R.I.P. Micheal. You are a true international icon.
